Preventing Violence and Extremism in Indonesian Educational Institutions: Policies and Strategies

This article discusses the policies and strategies of Indonesian government for preventing influence radical extreme religious ideologies in schools universities. In their survey, PPIM UIN Jakarta 2019 Wahid Institute 2020 found that educational institutions, from high to universities, were vulnerable views intolerance. examines a number elements play strategic role violence extremism such as regulations; education curriculum; internal external stakeholders, including teachers, parents, students, officials, civil society. The authors argue each university school radicalism among students have different levels effectiveness. Synergies involving stakeholders also contribute success failure securing institutions dangers extremism. results this study are based on in-depth interviews with selected sources. paper recommends need synchronize related prevention more effective participation all stakeholders.
